Dear Students,
We invite you to participate in a unique competition “Student innovations in the Sustainable Development and Green Technologies in the Airport Industry” organized by Silk Way West Airlines as part of COP29.
This gives you the opportunity to work in teams as well as present your innovative ideas and projects in the field of Environmental Sustainability and Green Technologies in Airport Design, Construction and Management.
The event will provide a platform intended to discuss contemporary environmental challenges and solutions. Here you and your team will be able to showcase your talent and contribute to the creation of a “Green Airport” in the Alyat Free Economic Zone.
The stated below is expected from you:
- Team formation and project presentation: you must form teams of 4-5 students, prepare joint ideas and presentations as well as submit your project and send it to contest@swfz.az by 5 November 2024.
- Project Presentation: to present the best projects, team members will be invited to a presentation to be held at the Silk Way West Airlines stand at COP29 and will be able to present their ideas and innovative proposals in the Sustainability and Green Technology in the Airport Industry.
- Awards Ceremony: the winners will be announced at the Silk Way West Airlines stand on 18 November 2024. The winners will be honoured with prizes and gifts.

Recommendations on the format of the presentation:
- (PPT) Microsoft PowerPoint format containing a maximum of 10-12 slides .
- To prepare in English, but can be submitted in English or Azerbaijani languages.
Presentation structure:
Title slide – The Project Title, names of the team members should be written down.
Introduction – A brief overview of the project or initiative you are working on and its importance (e.g., calling for clean technology in the airport industry).
Purpose – Clearly state the purpose of your project (if there is more than one).
Project Description – Describe the current challenges and gaps in sustainability and green technology in the airport industry.
Innovative solution – Present the idea or solution you propose and explain its innovative aspects (use diagrams, visuals).
Feasibility – Provide information on how realistic and ‘applicable’ your proposed solution is. Take into account technological, financial and operational aspects.
Environmental impact – Emphasize the positive environmental impact of your solution.
Conclusion – Summarize the main results and re-emphasize the innovative aspects of your project.
Call to action – Propose next steps or potential applications intended to implement your project.
- Time guidelines – Each presentation should last about 10-15 minutes, so practice to make sure you can present the content in that time.
- Submit presentation – The finished presentation in PPT or PDF format should be sent to contest@swfz.az by 5 November 2024. The application letter should include a brief description of the project and the contact number of the team’s responsible person .
